Always the Bridesmaid never the Bride… no more. After years of acting as sideman for the who’s who of the Canadian independant music scene, Neil MacDonald steps up to the plate to deliver a grand slam debut release. With funding from the Alberta Foundation for the Arts, Neil was able to choose who he wanted to produce, namely Laurence Currie, infamous for his black coffee, meat and potatoes guitar approach that you can hear on records by bands like Sloan, Wintersleep, and the Ghandharvas. The songs are no frills, heavy on melody, and immediately singable. The record charted very well across Canada upon it’s National release, and has been featured on CKUA’s Nightcap, and CBC’s Key of A. The record has also receIved rave reviews in american and swiss fanzines, and continues to sell very well on itunes and pure tracks. The band was also recorded by CBC’s Canada live crew and is available at concerts on demand on the CBC website. Watch out for this one… good clean fun. -Jonny Ireland
