Makeshift Innocence

Makeshift Innocence at the Haven Social Club in Edmonton Alberta

Makeshift Innocence is a musical experience that takes its listeners on a journey through all types of music. Everything from folk, blues and jazz, to alternative & rock. The music is more than the sound of the guitar, more than blood flowing through veins, it’s the sound of a feeling. Makeshift Innocence is a lesson learnt, an emotion taught…it’s the sound of a heartbeat…the ultimate soul.

Formed in the late summer of 2007, Makeshift Innocence is comprised of Jesse-James Cameron & Benjamin Bald. The two met through a series of events which, ultimately, led them to start jamming together. Both Jesse-James and Benjamin worked well together from the beginning on combined original material. Makeshift Innocence is a chance to start fresh. It provides the tools to rebuild ones innocence. It is the life journey to be fulfilled. Because of the creative chemistry between the two members, most of the album, “Between Heaven & Hell” was written within the first few months of playing together. They have ignited fires within each other and have fed off of the fuel of the other to get to the point that they are at right now.

The goal of Makeshift Innocence is to touch people’s hearts. To influence their listeners to be inspired, to live, believe, love, respect, and to give them hope. The music is rhetorical, it is not looking for an answer, or to be answered. It is made to see how the listener reacts, as they will interpret it however they need to, or want to, for themselves, on an individual level.
