Made up of two high school seniors from Edmonton, WyClarify is a young and exciting group that seems to attract attention no matter where they are playing. That might not be something new for most musicians, but for Wyatt Eddy and Claire Swanson, anyone more than their family listening in from the kitchen is a crowd. When these two songwriters started playing together, they really had no intention of ever performing together. Instead, just having someone to “jam” with was all they were interested in. But ask anyone who knows these two, and they will tell you that WyClarify is never content standing still. After Claire won first place in the talent show at Ross Sheppard High School with an ingenious rendition of Billy Talent’s “Try Honesty”, she and Wyatt began talking to booking agents around the city about playing live shows. All it took was one small show at Steeps Tea House in downtown Edmonton, and WyClarify was booking shows all over, generating a buzz throughout all that have had a chance to listen to them. With nothing but their guitars, voices, and the occasional harmonica, WyClarify has a unique and distinct sound that sets them apart from other musicians of the same genre. But if there is one thing that sets these two apart from the rest, it is their song writing. With slow emotional ballads like “Gates of Heaven” and “From the Palm of my Hand”, to upbeat jams such as “Bugspray” and “20, Minus You”, listening to their songs will guaruntee that you expierience every emotion under the rainbow. By the same token, you would not be able to guess that this music was written by two kids lying on the living room floor. You would have to meet these two young musicians in particular before believing that it was possible that this music could be written by people so young they couldn’t even take a drink until a couple months ago. And if you still don’t believe it after meeting them, just ask the people who have been listening from the kitchen the whole time.
