James Murdoch

James is a very versatile performer. His concerts can range from intimate, solo acoustic shows, showcasing his strong voice and beautiful, heart-breaking songs to a trio with a piano and pedal steel guitar, all the way to his energetic, 5-piece band.
• In the summer of 2007 James teamed up with “poetic proselytizer” Hawksley Workman to produce James’ fourth CD “In Transit.”
• The record is reminiscent of Crowded House and Blue Rodeo with a twist of the new “Canadiana sound.”
• The songs are inspired by James’ travels and performances from Spain to New York to the Yukon, and they sing in a voice of maturity that speaks volumes of James’ growth as both a writer and a musician.
• With Workman featured on drums and other instruments as well as celebrity guests Gary Craig (Bruce Cockburn, Blackie and the Rodeo Kings), Richard Underhill (Shuffle Demons) and Stew Crookes (Matt and Jill Barber), the musicianship on the record is top notch.
